Withrow Springs Campout with Webelos II

Despite an incredible amount of rain causing a delay in our departure, we managed to pack a lot of fun and learning into the weekend's campout.  Thanks for coming and camping with us Pack 121!

July 4th Firework Parking Fundraiser

Monday July the 4th we will host our Independence Day fundraising event. This is an opportunity for Scouts to raise funds for their scouting activities and gear. As in previous years, our Scouts will be helping people, who want to enjoy the Memorial Park fireworks, park their vehicles in the church parking lot and some of the adjacent fields.  
David Wells, and Mark and Lea Puente will be on site to work with our Scouts. David is asking for all Scouts participating in this activity to meet t the church at 4:30 pm on Monday, July 4. Each Scout needs to be wearing his Field (Class A) uniform and bring a water bottle and a flashlight with them.

Please use the list of Summer Camp Essentials to aid you in your packing personal equipment you will need to bring with you to summer camp.  This list is based on the Camp Orr required personal items and input from scouts that have attended past years of summer camp. This is promising to be a really fun year at Camp Orr, as Troop 450 will have 13 scouts attending.

Necessary medications (CLEARLY LABELED)
Water bottle
Official Scout Uniform with Neckerchief (A)
Troop class B shirt 
T-shirts (6-7)

Bathing Suit(s) always nice to have a dry pair to put on.

All classes require each Scout to bring pencil and paper every-day. VERY IMPORTANT!!! BE PREPARED
DO NOT BRING: Cell phones, radios, video games, iPad, iTouch, axes, saws, sheath knives, weapons, bows, pets, matches
All food and snacks must be stored in the troop trailer overnight and when away from camp.  Packing food in gear bag in tent will only invite unwanted guests…. Raccoons love to rummage for treats at all hours.

May brings cool(cold) weather to Scouts during Survival Weekend.

Scouts made their own shelters and ran an orienteering course while enjoying beautiful but cold May weekend.  Temperature dipped into the 40's providing for a chilly night.  Scouts found that packing extra clothes and wearing layers is a good idea.  Best dehydrated meal?  Beef Stroganoff?  Best thing about cool weather? 2016 Spring Climboree Camp Orr

Camp Orr Twin Falls
This past weekend our Scouts attended the Camp Orr Climboree. All of our Scouts enjoyed the climbing rappel tower, the Tyrolese Traverse, rock rappels, including the "Gar Hole"  a 280' cliff face decent with the last 80 feet are free fall (your feet do not touch the cliff face)!

Our Troop had the honor of conducting the opening flag ceremony of the weekend. Our Scouts did a great job! Troop 450's flag flew proudly all day next to the flags of our state and our nation!

April 22nd Bella Vista 5K 10K Trail Run

Scouting for Food, Troop 450 Exceeds 1000 lbs. of Donations.

Job well done!  The Scouts and parents that worked the Scouting for Food Drive at Harps Saturday collected a unbelievable 1000 lbs of food filling about 8 shopping carts. With all collections from neighborhoods we will have 1100 lbs of donated items and $74 in cash donations.  Thanks to Harps for hosting our Troop and regionally for the Westark Council for this Year's Scouting for Food. Thanks to all that donated items, those that volunteered their time and helped do a "Good Turn."  Photo by Francisco Perez.

New BSA Rank Requirements / Printable Handbook Insert

The NEW rank requirements are official as of Jan. 1, 2016.  Scouts
who joined the Boy Scouts of America on or after Jan. 1, 2016 MUST follow
the rank requirements as printed in the new Boy Scout Handbook or in the current
year’s Boy Scout Requirements book.
Scouts who joined the BSA prior to Jan. 1, 2016:
• Who are working on the Tenderfoot through First Class ranks MAY
continue to follow the old requirements, but MUST convert to the current
requirements upon attaining First Class.
• Who have completed the First Class rank MAY complete the rank they are
currently working on in the old requirements, but MUST convert to the
current requirements for subsequent ranks.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2017, all Scouts MUST use the current requirements
regardless of rank.

Merit Badge Summit

2016 Cornerstone District Merit Badge Summit  Feb. 6; Feb. 20; Feb. 27 7am-1pm at the Bentonville High School.

Cornerstone Merit Badge Summit registration is open. Each Scout can register for up to 3 Merit Badges. Fees are $12 per Merit Badge if registered by January 22, 2016. $15 per Merit Badge after January 22, 2016.  Please remember to pick a 4th alternate Merit Badge.

Some Merit Badges requirements cannot be completed in class, all Scouts/leaders are encouraged to review requirements prior to attending class so that you will come prepared. All Scouts are expected to attend all 3 classes; Feb. 6; Feb. 20; Feb. 27.
